embedded-world-white-paper-cover-1-02 How the Internet of Things is Changing the Definition of Product How the Internet of Things is Changing the Definition of Product

Embedded World 2015 was all about the Internet of Things (IoT) and Security & Safety. Joined by many other industry experts on the conference, Intland’s CEO Janos Koppany gave a talk on how the IoT is transforming the very definition of ‘product’. His talk, based on the paper titled Internet of Things Changes the Definition of What a Product Is, outlined how smart products have evolved over time, and how connectivity has expanded their functionality, enabling companies to include previously unimaginable services. What’s more, these service made possible by IoT-enabled devices increasingly form the very substance of the product.

In other words, products are no longer considered just physical devices, but connectivity and these additional services are equally, if not more important than the product itself.
