Purchasing and Licenses

How do I purchase codeBeamer (any license plan)?

Our sales team will be happy to guide you through the simple process of purchasing codeBeamer ALM. After choosing the license type that best suits your needs, you’ll be asked to fill in a quote form. Once submitted, a quote will be generated and sent to the provided e-mail address. Please print and sign this document, and send it back to us via e-mail, fax or regular post to place your order. Shortly after receiving your quote request, our Sales team will get in touch with you regarding payment details, and you’ll also receive a temporary License code that you can use to start working with codeBeamer right away!

What payment methods can I use to purchase codeBeamer?

You can pay by invoice through bank transfer to our account. Our Sales team will guide you through the payment process.

Do I need to buy the whole ALM or can I buy separate modules?

You have the option to buy the complete ALM solution including all modules and features, or you can choose to separately buy the Requirements Management feature set, the Software Development capabilities or the QA & Test functionality. If you choose to buy 2 of them, you’ll receive the license for the third module (in other words, a full ALM license) free of charge. For more information on each of the above options, please consult the relevant sections of our Pricing page.

What is the difference between perpetual and rented licenses?

Purchasing a perpetual license means that after an initial upfront payment, you have the right to use codeBeamer forever. However, the mandatory support fee starts from 20% of your license fee per year (not included in the prices of perpetual licenses).

Renting codeBeamer saves you the cashflow outlay upfront, but you can only use the software by continuing to pay the yearly rental fee. On the other hand, support is included in this annual fee.

Please keep in mind that perpetual and rental licensing models can’t be combined.

How do I decide if I should buy a perpetual or a rented license?

From a breakeven cost perspective, the perpetual license is a cost-effective solution if you plan to use codeBeamer for at least two years.

What is the difference between named and floating licenses?

With named licenses, each and every user needs to be named and granted a license. Floating licenses allow a pool of users to share the purchased number of floating licenses. As long as a floating license is available (e.g. the number of users logged in is lower than the number of floating licenses purchased), any user can access codeBeamer. Many of our customers combine named and floating licenses.

You can also choose from on-site licenses for unlimited use. This is usually recommended for large-scale deployments of above 300+ concurrent users.

Can I combine named and floating licenses?

Yes, it is possible to combine named and floating licenses. For instance, you can purchase 20 named licenses for your developers, 5 floating licenses for all your other teams, and a set of 10 Reviewer licenses for your customers. This ensures that all stakeholders have access to your projects at all times.

What is the default time out for floating licenses?

The default time-out period for a floating user session is 90 minutes. When you log out, your session will be immediately free for others.

Can I change floating to named licenses and vice versa?

Yes, you have the option to make adjustments regarding the ratio of named and floating licenses within 6 months of your purchase date.

How am I going to receive my License Code?

Shortly after receiving your quote request, our Sales team will send you a temporary License Code via e-mail. You can use this code to start working with codeBeamer ALM right away. Once we have received payment, you will be given a new, final License code for your purchased codeBeamer license.

Can I use the licenses from any location?

Yes, you can use the licenses from any country, continent, time zone and location.

Is there a minimum number of licenses to purchase?

Yes. When starting a new license, a minimum of 10 licenses have to be purchased (RM, SD, QA&TM, or ALM). There’s no minimum when upgrading an existing license. Please contact us for a custom quote.

How do I know when my license expires?

Notifications will be sent to you via e-mail well before your license expires. You will also receive notifications within codeBeamer to extend your license. If your license is about to expire, simply reach out to our sales team at sales@intland.com to extend your license.

What happens if I change my server?

Migration of codeBeamer is possible, as we can generate a new license code for your new host ID. Please contact our sales team for assistance.

Can I receive any discounts?

Yes, volume discounts may apply. Contact us for a custom quote.

Do academic institutions receive any discounts?

Yes, we offer discounts for academic institutions on the license prices. Contact us for a custom quote.

Can I upgrade from a previous version to newer versions of codeBeamer ALM?

If you have a valid Software Subscription & Support Agreement, you will be able to upgrade to the latest version of codeBeamer ALM.

What are Reviewer users?

The Reviewer license behaves like a named license that allows access to requirements only. Reviewer users can review, approve and rate requirements, and add comments to them. However, Reviewer users can’t create or modify requirements.

Subscription and Support (Perpetual Enterprise Licenses)

What is included in subscription and support?

Your Software Subscription and Support contract provides you access to product upgrades (Subscription) and technical support (Support). It is renewable on an annual, 12-month basis, unless otherwise specified. Support is provided for the current version of codeBeamer and for any version that has been released during the preceding 12-month period.

Do I need to pay for software subscription and support?

The annual support fee, mandatory for perpetual licenses, starts from 20% of your license price (not included in the price of licenses). Support fee is included in the price of Renting licenses.

What are the benefits of having a support contract?

Clients with a valid software subscription and support agreement receive all new versions including major and minor releases of codeBeamer on a regular basis for free. On average, there are 2-3 major codeBemaer upgrades a year, with new features and usability improvements. Having access to our professional technical support services facilitates the use of codeBeamer. For more information on support, please see our Support page.

How can I renew my subscription and support contract?

If you have a valid subscription and support contract and don’t cancel it 30 days before the expiration date, your subscription and support contract will be automatically renewed for the next period without prior notice. If you don’t have a subscription and support contract or in case your contract has expired, please contact our Sales team.

What happens if I don’t renew my software subscription and support?

With perpetual Enterprise licenses, you will be able to keep using codeBeamer according to your license agreement, but won’t be able to upgrade to newer versions of codeBeamer, and you won’t be able to benefit from our advanced tech support.

Software subscription and support is included in the price of your rented licenses.
