Additional configuration management capabilities through enhanced Working Sets
When developing multiple product variants, you may need to configure various versions of specifications. Working Sets (introduced in 21.04) help manage this complexity by providing advanced configuration management options. Working sets provide a transparent view and an easy-to-manage configuration model for your product line engineering efforts. Using this updated feature, you can filter data to only see what’s relevant in the current context, and it also lets you efficiently work with multiple versions/variants of trackers and configurations.
Selective deployment for quick & easy project updates
Managing the deployment of a complex hierarchy of interrelated projects is an erroneous and labor-intensive process – but doing it in a transparent and controlled manner is also necessary for regulatory compliance. codebeamer 21.09 comes with a new feature that increases granularity when deploying project configurations.
Using this version, you can select a subset of trackers, and choose to deploy configurations only for those trackers. This new capability makes it easy to adjust minor changes in an otherwise complex project configuration hierarchy.

PostgreSQL support for higher deployment flexibility & enhanced performance
codebeamer 21.09 now supports PostgreSQL, a pure open-source solution for enterprise use. Using PostgreSQL provides improved performance through additional deployment flexibility.
In networked deployments, codebeamer’s performance may be limited by the latency between the database and the codebeamer server. By deploying codebeamer with PostgreSQL, you can remove this limitation and improve performance by reducing response times. Deploying codebeamer with PostgreSQL is cost-effective and scalable, and is supported by Amazon Web services and MS Azure Clouds to provide high availability and clustering!
Robustness at high loads through API throttling
Through API throttling, System Administrators can limit the number of API requests from a user over a defined period of time. Use API throttling to further enhance the robustness of codebeamer via controlling the number of API requests in order to improve security, scalability, and performance.

Maintenance mode for SysAdmin’s peace of mind
Sophisticated maintenance duties can be difficult to manage, especially when you’re managing thousands of users. Besides optimizing downtime, you want to make sure that only authorized personnel can access codebeamer, and that all other users are notified accordingly. The all-new maintenance mode helps you do just that, letting you provide visibility and transparency when system maintenance is needed.
Use this feature to provide specific users with maintenance permissions, and notify all other users about the ongoing maintenance work. Logged-in users will receive a heads up to save their work, while those logged out will be notified about the maintenance after the fact. We’ve even added API endpoints to enable you to query and set the environment’s status!
Improved collaboration with updated permission controls for commenting
Amidst the complexity of modern product engineering, making sure everyone is heard is a challenge – but so is toning down the noise to focus on what’s really important. In codebeamer 21.09, we’re introducing the ability to control permissions for item commenting. For each status of the item’s workflow, you can now easily specify which users can add comments or attachments, fine-tuning your workflows for efficiency & transparency!
