IT Service Management – from Development to Operations

Medium and large organizations divide Development and Operations into separate departments. While Development departments are driven by user needs for frequent delivery of new features, Operations departments focus more on availability, stability of IT services and IT cost efficiency. These two contradicting goals create a “gap” between Development and IT Operations, which slows down IT’s delivery of business value. Development and Operations collaboration “DevOps” was built to fix this situation.

The IT Service Management module is designed to break down communication silos between development teams and IT operations. DevOps aligns the incentives of everybody involved in delivering software, with a particular emphasis on developers, testers, and operations personnel. Cross functional teams can work together seamlessly, eliminating the communication silos to produce and deliver software and services securely.

DevOps stresses efficient communication and multi-departmental collaboration for the agile enterprise. It primarily integrates Software Development teams with IT Operations teams, thus maintaining business agility, increasing the overall efficiency and reducing production risks in a frequently changing environment. The IT Service Management module resolves the conflict with existing frameworks like CMMI, ITIL, Agile, and Scrum.

codeBeamer’s IT Service Management module provides full collaboration with traceability for the entire IT process. It increases collaboration between operations and development, reducing the deployment-change cycles for the operation.
